Anzac Day Today
It’s Anzac Day in Australia today. C19 put paid to the usual heavily attended Dawn Service and Street March but it didn’t stop too many of us from ‘Remembering Them’.
We all took to our footpaths to pay our respects, listen to the broadcast service from The Australian War Memorial, hear the Last Post played, and observe the one minute of silence.
Even though it was somewhat lonely and isolated it nonetheless was quite emotional.
Some gave their all for what we enjoy today and we should remember it more often.
“LEST WE FORGET.”

That is your Remembrance Day?
Ours, in Canada, is in November, like other Commonwealth countries. I can very well understand, and approve, that you selected a date that is associated with Gallipoli.

Yes, that’s what it’s all about Sophia. In honour and remembrance of the ANZACS - Australian and New Zealand Army Corp. We mostly always throw in with the Kiwi’s and likewise they with us - in matters of war anyway.
We have Remembrance Day the same as you guys - 11th hour of the 11th month.
We’ve got a few Viet Vets a few doors behind us. They and their mates have been having a merry old time since about 3am. They were very quiet around service time of course. They’ve since livened the neighbourhood up with their joviality and singing and stuff like that. I think it’s wonderful. We’re all being entertained for free ... lol.
I think they’ll all cark it by about midday.
It’s nice :-)

I reckon it was a sad day when they made two up illegal on Anzac Day. I remember when I was teaching in Hughenden (outback Australia) all those years ago the two up games at the pub were so loud they almost rocked the town!

Ah! It still happens I think Simone dear, although not so much in the open, and I think most self respecting law men look the other way, as they should.
God we’ve put up with some stupid legislation over the past 20 years or so. Politicians - monkeys n suits and ties. If they can’t make money out of something they ban it.
The boys will be two-upping all over the place today. Good on them :-)

Hehe not to my knowledge, but when I was young and gorgeous my family lived in the Whitsundays - Airlie beach - Great Barrier Reef.
Myself and the local stud muffin used to go down and catch tiny crabs for the resort crab races held every Friday night - then wander back down after said races and carefully put them back where we found them!
Aaah, those romantic tropical evenings !
